Thar facelift borrows premium features from the Thar Roxx New grille, LED lights, and 10.25-inch touchscreen inside Electric steering, same engines; launch expected in 2025
The 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift has been spotted on test, and it brings several exciting updates inside and out. While Mahindra has not yet announced an official launch timeline, the recently leaked images give us a clear look at what’s changing.
Here are the top 5 updates in the Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift:
One of the most noticeable updates in the Mahindra Thar facelift 2025 is inside the cabin. The SUV gets a new three-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the Thar Roxx. Along with this, there is a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will make the interior feel more premium.

Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift will share more equipment with the Thar Roxx. The list includes door-mounted power window switches, grab handles on the A-pillars, a new front armrest, a wireless charger on the centre console, and a reverse camera mounted on the spare wheel. These updates make the cabin more practical and modern.
On the outside, the Mahindra Thar facelift will sport a new grille design with double-stacked slots, much like the Thar Roxx. The headlights and tail-lamps are expected to get C-shaped LED signatures. While the overall shape remains the same, higher variants could also get new alloy wheel designs, although the RWD version spotted still carries the existing 18-inch alloys.
Under the hood, the 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift will continue with the current engine lineup. This includes the 152 hp 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, the 119 hp 1.5-litre turbo-diesel, and the 132 hp 2.2-litre turbo-diesel. A 6-speed manual gearbox will remain standard, while the petrol and 2.2-litre diesel models will continue to offer a 6-speed automatic option.
Another notable upgrade in the Mahindra Thar facelift 2025 is the switch from hydraulic power steering to an electric power steering unit, borrowed from the Thar Roxx. This change is expected to make driving easier, especially in the city.
Although the test mule reveals plenty of updates, Mahindra has not yet confirmed the Mahindra Thar facelift launch date. However, given the testing progress, the SUV is expected to arrive very soon this year with both petrol and diesel options.
