German luxury carmaker, Mercedes-Benz has revealed the production version of the new-gen CLA sedan. The new-gen CLA sedan is set be launched in the European markets in the second half of 2025, while India launch is expected in the end of 2025 or early next year.
The new-gen model rides on a new platform called Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture, or MMA for short. The 2025 Mercedes-Benz CLA is claimed to be longer, wider and taller than the outgoing model. In fact, the wheelbase has been increased to create more space inside the cabin. Here, we compare the dimensions of the new Mercedes CLA with the older CLA sedan.
The new-gen Mercedes CLA measures 4723mm in length, 2021mm in width and 1468mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2790mm. Compared to the outgoing model, the new CLA sedan is 35mm longer, 22mm wider and 29mm taller. In fact, the wheelbase is increased by 61mm to create more cabin space.
Mercedes claims that the interior headroom at the front and rear are increased by 16mm and 28mm, respectively. While the legroom in front row is increased by 11mm, the legroom space in the second-row is interestingly reduced by 7mm. In fact, the Elbow width and shoulder room in the second-row are decreased by good 23mm and 13mm, respectively.
The new CLA has a boot space of 405-litres, which is again 55-litres less compared to the predecessor. The outgoing car has a luggage carrying capacity of 460-litres. The new Mercedes CLA electric is the first model from the German brand to have a frunk space. It comes with a 101-litres of front trunk.
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan has a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.21, which is slightly less than that of the EQS (0.20). It will have wheels ranging from 17 to 19 inches.
The new-gen Mercedes-Benz CLA is powered by a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine with a small, 1.3kWh battery and a 27hp electric motor. The front-wheel-drive version will offer a combined power output of either 136hp or 163hp, while the top-end 4Matic model will have a combined power output of 191hp.
The electric version will come in two variants - CLA 250+ with EQ Technology and CLA 350 4Matic with EQ Technology. The former comes with a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive setup that offers 268hp and 334Nm of torque, while the 4Matic model has a dual-motor, AWD setup offering a combined power and torque output of 349hp and 550Nm, respectively. Both has a rear-mounted two-speed transmission, where the first is for city use while the second is tailored for highway driving.
The RWD model claims to achieve 0-100kmph in 6.6 seconds, while the AWD model accelerates to 100kmph in 4.8 seconds. Both have an electronically limited top speed of 210kmph. The CLA 250+ with EQ Technology is claimed to offer a range of up to 792km (WLTP cycle) in a single-charge, while the 4Matic version delivers an impressive range of 770km.
