BMW X1 Long Wheelbase bookings are now open in India. The new X1 LWB will be launched on August 21, 2026. Local production will take place at BMW Group Plant Chennai.
BMW India has started taking pre-launch bookings for the new X1 LWB. Customers can book the SUV through BMW's authorised dealerships across the country. Customers can also register their interest through the BMW India website.
The X1 LWB is based on the standard X1 but gets a longer wheelbase. This extra length is mainly aimed at giving rear-seat passengers more legroom and making the SUV more comfortable for long journeys.
The new BMW X1 LWB will be locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai. Local production is also expected to help BMW keep the price of the X1 LWB more competitive than a fully imported model.
The X1 is already one of BMW's important models in India, and the new long-wheelbase version is expected to further increase its appeal among luxury SUV buyers.

The biggest change on the X1 LWB will be its longer body and wheelbase. BMW says the new model will be the longest and most spacious SUV in its segment. The longer wheelbase should provide more legroom for passengers sitting in the second row. This could be especially useful for buyers who regularly travel with family or prefer to be driven around. The extra space should also make the X1 LWB more comfortable on longer trips.
The new X1 LWB will continue to offer a premium cabin along with modern technology and comfort features. BMW says the SUV has been designed to offer more space and comfort without losing the driving experience that the X1 is known for. The longer version will also get a stronger road presence, making it look bigger and more premium than the standard X1.
The BMW X1 Long Wheelbase will launch in India on August 21, 2026. BMW is expected to reveal the full details, including the variants, engine options, features and prices, at the time of the launch. With bookings already open and local production confirmed, the X1 LWB is set to become an important addition to BMW's SUV range in India.
The new BMW X1 LWB will mainly focus on more space, better rear-seat comfort and a bigger road presence. It will continue to offer the premium features and driving experience expected from a BMW.
