The Third-Gen BMW X1 features a large, tall chrome kidney grille that is flanked by slim headlights and L-shaped DRLs. The side profile gets flush-fitting door handles and flared wheel arches alongside a set of new multi-spoke alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, there’s a heavily-sculpted boot lid and inverted-L shaped LED tail lights.
The interior design of the new X1 shares similarities with the 2 Series Active Tourer sold overseas. Compared to the outgoing model, the interior is a marked improvement. The new curved display with a 10.7-inch touchscreen and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster look premium and high tech while the dashboard is clutter free with reduced physical buttons. The new SUV is also bigger on the inside, offering more space for rear passengers as well as a generous 500-litre boot space.
The four-wheeler will be underpinned by BMW’s FAAR front wheel drive platform, which has been extensively updated from the previous UKL. The modular platform is also utilized to offer the iX1, which is an EV featuring an electric range of 437 kms.
Powertrain wise, the BMW X1 is offered with 2 petrol and 2 diesel engine options. Both powertrains come fitted with a 48V mild-hybrid system while transmission duties are handled by a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
Upon launch, the BMW X1 will take on the likes of the New Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and the Volvo XC40. Expect the new SUV to cost more than the current model, with its pricing being in the range of Rs 45 lakh - Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom).
