First introduced in August 2009, the Toyota Fortuner has cemented its place as one of India's most popular premium 3-row SUVs. Renowned for its commanding road presence, impressive off-road capabilities, and strong resale value, the Fortuner has remained a top choice in its segment.
Over the years, it has undergone multiple updates. Now, the Fortuner is gearing up for its highly anticipated third-generation debut with fresh design, advanced features, and the introduction of a hybrid powertrain.
The next-generation Toyota Fortuner SUV is expected to feature a refreshed design with a sleeker grille accented by chrome highlights, LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, and a redesigned bumper for a more modern and aggressive look. The Toyota logo will take center stage, enhancing its bold presence.
Along the sides, the SUV will ride on stylish 18-inch alloy wheels, potentially featuring a machine-cut design. At the rear, the Fortuner is likely to sport sleek LED taillights, a revised tailgate with vertical reflector lamps, and a roof-mounted spoiler housing a brake lamp. Adding to its sporty appeal, twin exhaust outlets will be positioned on either side. Additionally, a black roof option may be offered, further elevating its premium and dynamic aesthetic.
The new-generation Toyota Fortuner SUV is expected to feature a more refined and spacious interior. Anticipated upgrades include premium leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a 60:40 split-folding second row for added versatility.
On the technology front, the cabin is likely to boast a larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a fully digital instrument cluster.
The next-generation Toyota Fortuner SUV is likely to receive significant powertrain upgrades, including a 2.8-litre diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system for improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions. This setup is likely to produce around 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and available in both 2WD and 4WD options.
Additionally, Toyota may introduce a new turbocharged petrol engine with a hybrid setup, potentially replacing the existing 2.7-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The SUV will also be built on Toyota’s TNGA-F platform, known for enhancing overall performance, stability, and driving dynamics.
New-Gen Toyota Fortuner is expected to debut in India in 2025, possibly in the second quarter. As for the price, it could start from approximately Rs 37 lakh, with top-end variants potentially reaching Rs 50 lakh, depending on features and trim levels.
