Toyota Corolla sedan, one of the most trusted names in the sedan market worldwide, has been given a big refresh for 2026. Instead of launching a new generation, Toyota has updated the existing 12th-gen model with a facelift. The updated version has been revealed through official documents in China, hinting at a sharper and more premium design direction.

The new Corolla looks more stylish and modern compared to the current version. The front end has slimmer air intakes, C-shaped LED lights, and a sportier bumper design. Toyota has also added new dual-tone alloy wheels and a triangular extension near the rear windows for a more dynamic profile. At the back, a smoked finish for the tail lamps along with a red connecting strip gives the sedan a sleeker, more global appeal.
Though Toyota hasn’t revealed the interiors yet, the facelift is expected to feature a larger touchscreen system, advanced connectivity features, and improved cabin materials. Features like a digital driver display, ambient lighting, wireless updates, and even a head-up display could be part of the package, especially in higher trims.
In international markets, the Corolla facelift will continue with multiple engine choices, including petrol and hybrid powertrains. Buyers in China will get options like a 1.5-litre petrol engine, a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.8-litre hybrid setup. These powertrains are designed to balance fuel efficiency with daily usability.
For Indian buyers, the big question remains - will Toyota bring back the Corolla? The Corolla Altis was a strong player in India’s D-segment sedan space for years but was discontinued in 2020 due to stricter BS6 emission norms and the rising dominance of SUVs.
If reintroduced, the facelifted Corolla could slot above Toyota’s existing sedan offerings and rival cars like the Hyundai Elantra. However, Toyota India has not yet confirmed any plans to relaunch it here.
