India’s SUV market is gearing up for a big change as several popular models prepare for their next generation updates. Over the next 15-18 months, automakers will launch at least six major next-gen SUVs with fresh designs, modern features, and hybrid technology.
From the next-gen Hyundai Venue to the next-gen Toyota Fortuner, these upcoming next generation cars are set to excite buyers and redefine the SUV segment in India.
The next-gen Hyundai Venue is expected to launch on October 24, 2025. This compact SUV will feature a major redesign along with premium features, including Level 2 ADAS. Its cabin, dashboard, and seats will be inspired by the Creta and Alcazar. The next gen Venue will continue with the 1.2L and 1.0L petrol engines, while diesel models will retain the 1.5L CRDi powertrain.

The next-gen Kia Seltos is likely to premiere globally in November 2025 and reach India in early 2026. This new next-gen Seltos will be larger and more spacious, with updated styling at the front and rear. It will retain the current petrol and diesel engines, while a hybrid powertrain is expected to arrive later.
The next-gen Renault Duster is set to make a strong comeback in early 2026. Competing with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, the next gen Duster will feature petrol variants with a 1.3L turbocharged engine and may get a hybrid option. Built on the CMF-B platform, it has already been spotted testing on Indian roads.
The next-gen Toyota Fortuner could launch in the second half of 2026. Inspired by the global Hilux pickup, this SUV will offer a premium interior with features like Heads-up Display (HUD), ADAS tech, and ventilated seats. The next gen Fortuner will continue with the same petrol and diesel engines and introduce a 48V Neo Drive hybrid option.
Codenamed Garud, the next-gen Tata Nexon is under development and expected by 2027. Based on a redesigned X1 platform, the new next gen Nexon will get a radical design update and offer petrol and CNG trims. It is still unclear whether the diesel engine will meet upcoming BS7 emission norms.
The next-gen Hyundai Creta (codenamed SX3) is expected to launch in 2027. It could become the first Hyundai in India to feature strong hybrid technology, sharing the setup with the next-gen Seltos. Production may shift from Chennai to Hyundai’s Talegaon facility in Maharashtra.
