Mercedes-AMG is preparing to unveil an electrifying all-electric supercar concept. It will make its first public appearance in mid-2025, changing our concept of electric performance. According to the automaker, it will redefine electric performance. The upcoming supercar will boast AMG's latest electric innovations, shattering the limits of what electric vehicles (EVs) can achieve.
A senior Mercedes-AMG insider confirmed that the new supercar will be focused on speed and acceleration. Unlike previous electric vehicles like the EQXX, which was tuned for efficiency and range, this car is going to be the fastest-accelerating vehicle AMG has ever made. The goal is to make it one of the fastest production cars on the road when it comes to acceleration.
The design of this all-electric supercar will be the same as the One-Eleven concept that was launched in 2023. Although it will appear fresh, it will borrow much from that earlier concept. The car will have AMG's new-gen electric drivetrain, and this is made up of a cutting-edge axial-flux electric motor. This is a Yasa-designed motor, and Yasa is a UK company that is owned by Mercedes. It will also power upcoming Mercedes-AMG models like the GT SUV and electric GT 4-Door Coupe.
Another major aspect of the new supercar will be its new battery. The car is likely to feature a next-generation battery, potentially in the shape of a solid-state unit. Solid-state batteries are more efficient, charge quicker, and go further than current lithium-ion batteries. Mercedes is developing this battery technology with its High-Performance Powertrain division at Brixworth.
This supercar model featuring all-electric power is part of Mercedes-Benz's two-year plans to unveil new cars. In the course of the following two years, 21 new cars, ranging from combustion-engined to electric cars, will be unveiled by the company. The electric supercar will be among the most eagerly awaited debuts among them. It is going to present a glimpse into AMG's future in electric cars.
The new supercar is not only reported to be visually stunning, but it should also be quite a performer. It will definitely be focused on speed and acceleration, but may also feature some of the same cutting-edge technology Mercedes employs in some of its other models, such as the EQS prototype. That prototype has been spotted testing with solid-state batteries and can potentially provide a range of more than 620 miles (1,000 kilometers). The new supercar will, nonetheless, prioritize speed over range.
Mercedes-AMG is recognized for making performance vehicles, and the new supercar will not be different. It ought to be quicker than the existing AMG GT 63 S E Performance, which accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.8 seconds. The new supercar may even better this time, setting a new benchmark for AMG's acceleration family.
The electric supercar concept is just the beginning of a new chapter for Mercedes-AMG. The car will showcase AMG's evolution as an electric high-performance car manufacturer, combining next-generation electric motors and batteries with the company's high-performance past. While the concept is unveiled in 2025, production may be at least a few years away from the road.
Mercedes-AMG also is working on other electric cars, including an electric sedan and SUV. The vehicles will form part of the wider plan at the company to make more electric models in coming years. Along with that move, Mercedes is also introducing fresh editions of favorite models like CLA and GLB, together with electric alternatives to the C-Class and E-Class sedans.
Generally speaking, Mercedes-AMG's concept of all-electric supercars will be ground-breaking for the market of electric high-performance vehicles. Emphasis will be put on speed, the next-generation of battery systems, and new-gen electric motors to create the supercar to shape AMG's future when it comes to electric drives. Although production versions will arrive sometime in years to come, the concept gives automobile enthusiasts an outlook on things to come.
