Mahindra is working on the all-new platform for the next-gen Bolero. Named U171, the new internal combustion engine platform will be used for Mahindra's other SUVs and pickups in the future. The development of this new architecture will cost more than Rs 2,000 crore.
Mahindra has not revealed which new model to be added to the ICE portfolio, the two mid-cycle updates for the XUV700 and the Scorpio N are anticipated. Both models have been in the market since August 2021, and June 2022, respectively. The launch of the new Bolero is scheduled for 2026.
In terms of design, it is hard to predict the changes in the next-gen Bolero as it is in the early stages of development. However, we can expect that the brand will retain the rugged and boxy styling of the new Bolero. There might be an aggressive design with LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, hinged doors, and alloy wheels. Since the SUV will be using the new platform, an all-new engine is likely to be introduced for the new Bolero. Some of the anticipated features include a bigger touchscreen, automatic climate control, and more.
Just like Mahindra renamed the XUV300 facelift as XUV 3XO, the XUV700 could also be called XUV 7XO. In fact, the automaker has recently trademarked XUV 7XO, confirming its arrival in the market. Apart from this, Mahindra has also trademarked other names such as XUV 1XO and XUV 5XO.
