BMW M440i launched in India Gets 3L 6-cylinder turbo petrol engine 0-100kph in 4.9 seconds

BMW has launched the M440i Convertible in the Indian market at a price tag of Rs 1.09 crore (ex-showroom). This 4-seater convertible directly rivals the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet, which costs Rs 1.11 crore. It is powered by the same 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder turbo petrol engine that powers the M340i.

BMW M440i Specifications, 0-100kmph

Powering the BMW M440i is the same 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-petrol engine that powers the M340i. This engine is capable of producing 374bhp and 500Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 4.9 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.

The new soft-top convertible design is inspired by the 4 Series. The soft-top roof can be opened or closed in 18 seconds at speeds up to 50kph. The BMW M440i Convertible has a ‘beaver teeth’ grille flanked by ‘snake eyes’ LED headlights with daytime running lamps, and an aggressive lower bumper that houses functional air intakes.

The soft-top convertible rides on 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 255/35 section tyres. The rear seats can be accessed by folding the front passenger seat. At the back, the M440i has wraparound LED tail-lights and exhaust tips on both sides of the bumper.

The BMW M440I comes with a clutter-free dashboard, featuring a dual-screen setup comprising a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. There is a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with physical controls. The front seats are equipped with electrically adjustable front seats with memory functions. In terms of features, the M440i gets a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless phone charger, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a head-up display (HUD) and automatic climate control.
