2 New MG SUVs Launching Soon - 4X4 Fortuner Rival & High Range PHEV

JSW MG Motor India to launch six new models by 2027. MG Majestor coming in May, while PHEV SUV will launch by Diwali 2026.

JSW MG Motor has planned six new models for the Indian market, slated to arrive by 2027. The upcoming lineup will include the recently unveiled MG Majestor, a premium full-sized SUV, along with a new plug-in hybrid SUV. These SUVs are set to hit showrooms in May and October 2026, respectively.


With an estimated price range of Rs 40 lakh – Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom), the Majestor will take on the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and Volkswagen Tayron R-Line. Meanwhile, the MG plug-in hybrid SUV will not have a direct competitor; however, based on its positioning, it will compete with the Mahindra XUV 7XO.

Under the hood, the MG Majestor employs a 2.0L, four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine, producing power worth 215bhp. Higher trims are exclusively offered with a 4WD (four-wheel drive) system, featuring a low-range transfer case, multiple off-road models and electronically locking differentials. The SUV has a water wading capacity of 810mm. It will be available with 6 and 7-seats configurations.


Based on the global-spec Maxus D90, the Majestor features LED headlamps and taillamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, body cladding and twin exhaust tips. Key features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, dual wireless chargers, ventilated front seats with massaging function, 64 ambient lights, a JBL Studio audio, Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, TPMS and more.


MG Plug-in Hybrid SUV


The upcoming MG plug-in hybrid SUV is likely to be based on the China-spec Wuling Starlight 560. Globally, the Starlight 560 is available with plug-in hybrid and electric powertrain options. The PHEV version features a 1.5L petrol engine (106bhp/130Nm), paired with an electric motor and a 20.5kWh battery pack. This setup delivers a claimed electric-only range of 100km (CLTC cycle) and a combined range of 1,100km, supported by a 52-litre fuel tank. It does 0 to 100kmph in 9.7 seconds and offers a top speed of 170kmph.


JSW MG Motor India might also introduce the all-electric version of the Starlight 560 EV, featuring a 56.7kWh battery pack with a claimed driving range of up to 500km.
