MG Motor India recently launched its third new electric offering - the Windsor EV, which is Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). With the arrival of this EV, the brand also introduced the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program. Under this program, an individual has to pay Rs 3.5 per kilometre as an additional cost for the battery. Moving forward, MG has applied the same BaaS program for its other two electric cars - Comet EV and ZS EV. Since the battery cost is now excluded from the actual pricing, these two cars will now be available at cheaper prices. Continue reading to know more.
With the BaaS program, MG Comet EV is now available at Rs 4.99 lakh and its battery rental stands at Rs 2.5/km. This clearly reduced the vehicle's pricing by Rs 2 lakh (excluding the battery cost) as earlier it was priced between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 9.53 lakh.
Moving on to the MG ZS EV, which had a cost of Rs 18.98 lakh has come down to Rs 13.99 lakh, making it Rs 5 lakh cheaper than its previous cost. Its battery rental is Rs 4.5/km.
MG has only revealed the starting price of Comet and ZS EVs under this BaaS program. The variant-wise price list (without battery) is yet to be revealed by the brand. In addition to this, customers can also grab a 6 percent buyback value after 3 years of ownership.
