Chinese electric vehicle maker, Leapmotor is all set to enter the fast-growing Indian market. Stellantis will play a major role in executing the EV maker’s plans, which is considering its global affordable EVs for our market. For people not in the know, Stellantis has recently acquired stakes in Leapmotor’s global operations.
Stellantis has formed Leapmotor International, which will be responsible for the export, sale and manufacturing of Leapmotor products outside Greater China. Currently, Stellantis operates many popular brands across multiple continents such as Jeep, Peugeot, Maserati, Fiat and Chrysler.
Recent reports suggest that the Chinese company will be following the strategy of MG and BYD in the country. Leapmotor will be announcing its investment plans and its partnership with the Stellantis group in the next few weeks.
With this move, the Chinese EV maker will bring affordable electric cars to the market to attract a wide range of customers in the Indian EV landscape.
At present, the Chinese automaker has three electric cars on offer including a C01 4-door sedan, a T03 electric hatchback, and a C11 SUV. For the Indian market, the company has plans to bring budget EVs, as suggested by the reports.
The T03 electric hatchback is most likely to come in India first. Globally, it is powered by a 70 kW electric motor. It offers a range of up to 280 km (WLTP cycle). Plus, it is available with three driving modes and three steering modes, among other features.
