Honda has officially revealed its smallest electric car, the N-One e:, in Japan. The prototype was previously showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, drawing attention for its cute and boxy styling. Now, the production version is ready to hit Japanese roads this September.
The Honda N-One e: is a compact electric kei car designed for city use. It features:
- Boxy design with a high roof
- Tiny wheels for agile handling
- A length of under 3,400 mm, making it ultra-compact
The car blends practicality with a funky, youthful look, targeting urban drivers looking for style and convenience.
While Honda hasn't disclosed technical details, the N-One e: is expected to share its electric powertrain with the N-Van e:. That vehicle offers:
- 245 km range on a single charge
- 50 kW DC fast charging
- Battery top-up in about 30 minutes
Given the N-One’s smaller size and lighter body, it may deliver even better efficiency and range.
Inside, the Honda N-One e: maintains a clean and minimalistic cabin layout. Key features include:
- Physical control buttons and a rotary volume dial
- A shelf beneath the touchscreen for phones or small items
- A button-operated one-pedal driving mode
- 50:50 folding rear seats for increased luggage flexibility
One of the biggest highlights is the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature. It lets users:
- Power home appliances during outages
- Charge electric bikes, laptops, or other small devices
To enable V2L, buyers must purchase a special adapter from Honda’s accessory catalogue. The brand also offers:
- A dash-mounted LED battery indicator
- A sporty design kit with twin Shelby-style racing stripes
- The N-One e: goes on sale in Japan in September 2025
- The car will make its European debut at IAA Munich
- No launch is planned for the United States
With its quirky design, small footprint, and feature-loaded cabin, the Honda N-One e: seems perfect for India’s crowded cities. It could promote affordable EV ownership in the country. However, there are no plans to launch it in India at the moment.
Instead, Honda is focusing on a new electric SUV for India, expected in 2026, and has also announced plans for hybrid car launches in the near future.
