Hyundai Bayon midsize SUV arriving this financial year New Nissan Tekton to debut on July 9, 2026

The midsize SUV segment in India is set to get a lot more crowded with arrival of multiple new products. The Indian auto industry is buzzing with the confirmed arrival of two high-stake models, including the Nissan Tekton and the Hyundai Bayon. While both brands are targeting the high-volume midsize space, their strategies are entirely different.

Nissan Tekton: Arriving in July 2026

New Tekton Launch Date

The long-awaited Nissan Tekton is set to make global debut on July 9, 2026. The new Tekton is built on the highly-localised modular platform, called the RGMP, that also underpins the new Renault Duster. The SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and others in the segment.

Styling of the new Tekton will be inspired by the Flagship Patrol SUV, which is also heading to our market. It comes with an upright, boxy stance with a signature Nissan V-motion grille and C-shaped LED lighting. The SUV will come equipped with features such as automatic AC, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof and others.

The new Nissan Tekton will be offered with 1.0L turbocharged petrol and 1.3L turbocharged petrol engines. The SUV will also get a 1.8L strong hybrid engine shared with the new Renault Duster. For people not in the know, the new Renault Duster hybrid is scheduled to be launched by October 2026.

All New Hyundai Bayon Spied

The new Hyundai Bayon is scheduled to be launched before the end of current financial year, and a likely launch around festive season can’t be ignored. It will sit between the Hyundai Venue and the next-gen Creta, which is arriving in 2027. Codenamed Bc4i, the new Bayon will measure around 4.2 meters in length and will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki Victoris.

The all-new Hyundai Bayon will carry a taller, boxier stance, and styling will be based on Hyundai’s latest “Sensuous Sportiness” language. The new Bayon will come with a tech-heavy interior, likely to get a dual 10.25-inch displays - and the new Pleos Connect AI assistant. It will be the first Hyundai measuring above 4 meters to get a CNG powertrain. The new Hyundai Bayon is expected to be powered by a naturally-aspirated petrol engine along with a CNG powertrain with a dual-cylinder setup.
