Hyundai Bayon will be a 4.2 meter long SUV To rival Maruti Victoris Launch by March 2027

Hyundai India will launch two brand-new SUV nameplates in the country before the end of this financial year. One will be an all-new mid-sized SUV, which will be positioned between the Venue and Creta. The other model will be an all-new locally developed electric compact SUV. The new mid-sized SUV will be based on the Bayon crossover’s platform, which is on sale in Europe.

The next-gen Hyundai Bayon is currently under testing purposes, and will measure around 4.2 metres in length. It was speculated that the new model will be a crossover measuring under 4 meters in length and will be positioned against the likes of the Maruti Fronx. The spy images reveal that the SUV carries a taller, boxier stance, and its design is more aligned with Hyundai’s latest “Sensuous Sportiness” language.

The SUV will have a split headlamp setup with “ice-cube” LED projector headlamps with a high-mounted LED DRLs. It is expected to get new 16-inch diamond-cut alloys, chunky body cladding, functional roof rails, sharply raked tailgate with prominent integrated spoiler, and new connected LED tail-lights.

CNG Powertrain

Internally codenamed the Bc4i, the new Hyundai Bayon SUV is expected to be equipped with a naturally-aspirated petrol engine along with a CNG powertrain with a dual-cylinder setup. It will be the first Hyundai measuring above 4 meters to get a CNG powertrain. This will be a direct rival to the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, which has been receiving positive response from buyers.

Tech-laden interior

The next Hyundai Bayon will come with a tech-laden interior along with adaptive driver assistance system (ADAS). Hyundai is following Maruti Suzuki’s strategy of offering two mid-sized SUVs, the Victoris and the Grand Vitara. The company aims to regain its lost market share in the Indian market.

Other Engine Choices

We expect the new Hyundai Bayon to get a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 114bhp and 144Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. Adding to it, the SUV could also get a 1.5L turbo petrol or an all-new 1.2L turbo petrol engine. A diesel derivative could also join the line-up.
