The Bayon will come with the 1.5L petrol and CNG powertrain options. It will be positioned below the Creta, launch expected during 2026 Diwali season.
Hyundai Motor India has confirmed plans to introduce two all-new SUVs to strengthen its presence in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment. Additionally, the carmaker will launch a Made-in-India compact electric SUV in FY25-26. Details of these upcoming SUVs are yet to be announced, the lineup is likely to include the next-generation Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Bayon-based midsize SUV and Hyundai Inster-based EV.
The all-new Hyundai Bayon will be brand’s first attempt at adopting a product strategy similar to Maruti Suzuki’s, which has two offerings in the midsize SUV space – the Victoris and the Grand Vitara. The new SUV will be positioned between the Venue and the Creta within the company’s product lineup. The Bayon-based SUV is expected to make global debut by September, followed by its India launch during the 2026 Diwali festive season.
According to reports, the Hyundai Bayon SUV will be offered with two powertrain options – a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and a CNG. The 1.5L NA petrol engine, which also powers the Creta, delivers a maximum power of 115PS and 143.8Nm of torque. The Bayon will become Hyundai’s first model measuring over 4 metres in length to offer a factory-fitted CNG powertrain.
Spy shots suggest that the upcoming Hyundai midsize SUV will share several design elements from the Venue such as the LED headlamp split setup with slim LED DRLs (daytime running lights) placed at the top. The front grille will feature horizontal bars, while the front bumper will have air vents on the lower portion. The test mule was also equipped with a front radar sensor, hinting the inclusion of a ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite.
Interior details of the Hyundai Bayon are not available at the moment. However, similar to the global-spec model, the India-spec version could be offered with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, 8-speakers Bose audio system, Hyundai Bluelink connected car tech, OTA (over-the-air) updates, wireless phone charger, multiple airbags, Hyundai SmartSence (ADAS), hill start assist control, tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parkins sensors and more.
