India is all set to showcase its first-ever solar-powered electric car with the Vayve Eva. The new car is going to appear at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The first appearance of this car was made at Auto Expo 2023, and this time it might go for mass production. The pre-launch booking of Vayve Eva may start in January 2025.
Vayve Eva is a quadricycle designed for urban use. It is available in two-door and two-seater versions. Dimensionally, it is 3060 mm long, 1150 mm wide, and 1590 mm high. It is rather short and easy to handle through congested city roads.
Compared to the MG Comet EV, another compact electric vehicle, the Eva has more dimensions both in terms of length and the wheelbase. It has wider and taller bodies and has room inside the cabin.
One of the stand-out features of Vayve Eva is its ability to charge using solar power. It comes with a 14 kWh battery pack and an 8.03 bhp electric motor. The car allows covering a distance of 250 km on a single charge. The solar charging system adds up to 3,000 km in terms of range every year for the car, which brings an extra 10 km of range for each day. This will give the car a high benefit for the eco-friendly driver.
Charging the Vayve Eva is fast and convenient. Using a standard 15A AC socket, the car can be charged up to 80 percent in 4 hours while the DC fast charging charges it in 45 minutes. A 5-minute fast charge will add up to 50 km in range. The operational cost of the Eva also doesn't cost much, operating at Rs. 0.5 per km.
The Vayve Eva is provided with all the modern comfort and safety features. It is equipped with dual digital displays supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The driver's seat can be adjusted in six ways, and the car also comes with a fixed glass roof. For safety, the Eva comes with a driver airbag and seatbelts for both passengers.
Once launched, the Vayve Eva would compete with cars like the MG Comet EV. It's a compact electric car perfectly suitable for city drives. This car offers a different kind of solar charging system. The Vayve Eva is expected to go on sale shortly after the launch at the Auto Expo 2025.
