Continuing along its product expansion strategy, Jeep India has teased its upcoming luxury SUV, the Grand Cherokee for India. Set for a launch in November 2022, the Grand Cherokee will be the 4th Jeep model to made in India. Previously available as a CBU, the four-wheeler demanded a premium, leading to its rejection from the market. Fixing its mistakes, the carmaker is expected to introduce the Grand Cherokee at a more budget friendly price point and make it a sales success.
Now in its 5th generation, the Grand Cherokee is a muscular ‘Go-anywhere’ luxury SUV. The four-wheeler is available in both 5 and 7-seaterversion in the international market, but we expect the brand to only bring the 5-seater version to India. The front of the car gets the familiar 7-slat chrome grille along with sleek LED headlamps. We get to see a new chunky bumper with large air dam helping with cooling and engine performance. Towards the side and at the rear, the overall silhouette of the SUV is similar to the recently launched Jeep Meridian but is longer, wider and taller in comparison. The teaser images show that both SUVs sit on the same design alloy wheels
One place where the Grand Cherokee is going to be different from all other Jeep models is with its new interiors. As part of the brand’s efforts to deliver a segment-leading technology and premium experience, the latest Grand Cherokee is expected to come with the most technology filled cabin. While the teaser video does not reveal much, we can confirm that the SUV will get a larger central infotainment screen flanked by two smaller screens, one for the instrument cluster and the other for passenger display. All 3 screens are expected to be high-resolution with the central screen also acting as the command centre for different in-cabin activities. The company is also expected to offer a full suite of Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS), full connectivity package with 24X7 dedicated assistance amongst a host of other premium features.
Like the Jeep Meridian, the Grand Cherokee is expected to come equipped with the 2.0-litre diesel engine paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Like all Jeep models, this SUV will also get a rotary knob to select multiple-terrain modes including Auto, Mud/Sand, Sport and Snow.
