Jetour T2 PHEV will be launched by Diwali 2026 Retro-styled iCar V23 EV will arrive in early 2027
The Indian automotive Industry is set to witness a massive disruption as a new range of PHEVs and Electric vehicles are heading to our market. JSW Motors is also preparing to launch two high-impact SUVs with Plug-in Hybrid and Electric powertrains. Moving beyond its JV with MG Motor India, JSW Motors has partnered with Chinese giant Chery Automobile to bring Jetour and iCar brands to Indian market.
Both of these SUVs have been spotted testing on Indian roads. The JSW Jetour T2 PHEV is slated to be launched for a Diwali 2026, followed by the iCar V23 EV in early 2027.

The Jetour T2 is a boxy, rugged SUV that has been designed as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Land Rover Defender. While the global-spec model is offered with ICE and PHEV powertrains, the India-spec model is expected to get the Plug-in Hybrid powertrain. This model will work as a bridge to fill the gap between petrol and electric power.
PHEV Performance: It is packed with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine paired with a dual-motor electric setup. The combined power and torque output stands at 381 PS and 691 Nm, respectively. It is expected to get a dedicated 4WD system combined with a 205mm ground clearance, and an aggressive 39-degree approach angle will make it a good off-roader.
1000km Range: Equipped with a 26.7 kWh battery pack, the new Jetour T2 will offer an EV-only range of around 100-139 km for city commutes. Combined with a full tank of petrol, the total range will cross 1,000 km.
Key Features: it is packed with a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit powered by a Snapdragon 8155 chip. The SUV gets wireless connectivity, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, LEVEL 2 ADAS and panoramic sunroof.

The new iCar V23 will be the brand’s retro-styled electric SUV, which draws inspiration from the likes of the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. The SUV has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads.
Battery Pack & Range: this retro-styled electric SUV offers two battery options: 59.93 kWh and 81.76 kWh. While the former will have rear-axle-mounted electric motor, the bigger battery gets a dual-motor setup for AWD capabilities. The SUV is claimed to offer a claimed range of up to 510 km on a single charge.
Key Details: Some of the design highlights include round-shaped LED headlamps, flared wheel arches, and a flat swing-type tailgate with an external storage box. It is packed with a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, squared-off steering wheel, automatic climate control, ventilated and powered front seats, and others.
