Jetour T2 Plug-in Hybrid India launch by Diwali 2026 To offer up to 1200km range on a single tank EV only range of up to 139km

The Indian automotive landscape is set to witness a significant disruption. Car manufacturers are moving towards hybrids, which is evident from the rising demand for hybrid-powered vehicles in the country. JSW Motors is also preparing to debut its first independent passenger vehicle, the Jetour T2 PHEV.

The Jetour T2 offers a combination of the rugged Defender-like aesthetics and a high-tech Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. This Plug-in Hybrid vehicle is set to remove two biggest issues with big SUVs, Range Anxiety and Fuel Efficiency. It is scheduled to be launched by Diwali 2026 festive season. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming JSW Motors’ Jetour T2 PHEV.

Up to 1200km Range: PHEV Tech

Jetour T2 PHEV 1200km Range

The biggest USP of the JSW Jetour T2 is its staggering 1200km combined range on a single tank of fuel and a full charge. This is made possible by the “i-DM” (Intelligent Drive Model) system.

The new Jetour T2 is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a dual-motor setup paired with a 26.7 kWh battery pack. The combined power and torque output stands at 381hp and 610Nm, respectively.

For daily city commutes, the PHEV offers an electric-only range of around 139km. This engine is paired to a 3-speed DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission), which is claimed to be more efficient at managing power between the engine and motors than a standard CVT.

Defender-like Design

The JSW Jetour T2 carries a boxy design that offers MINI Defender appeal. It offers a bold, upright stance, and offers a boxy portfolio. In terms of styling, the SUV gets square LED headlamps, a flatter roof, squared-off wheel arches and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. With 220mm of ground clearance, the Jetour T2 is built to handle more than just broken city roads.

Inside the cabin, the plug-in hybrid SUV comes equipped with a massive 15.6-inch central touchscreen powered by the Snapdragon 8155 chipset. It gets a 10.2-inch digital instrument console, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system.

Estimated Price and Competition

JSW Motors will locally assemble this plug-in hybrid electric vehicle at its upcoming Greenfield manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. Scheduled to be launched by Diwali 2026, the new Jetour T2 is estimated to be priced around Rs 25-30 lakh.

It will take on the high-end variants of the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and the Jeep Compass. However, its unique PHEV powertrain could pull customers away from the Toyota Innova Hycross, Fortuner and others.
