The Kia Carnival made a big comeback in India in late 2024 with its fourth-generation model. While the new version became more premium and feature-loaded, its price also saw a major jump. Now, the brand is preparing to expand the lineup with a new hybrid variant that could offer more power and better mileage.
Currently, the Carnival is sold in a single fully-loaded Limousine trim at around Rs 59.50 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes to India via the CKD route and is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine.
However, reports suggest that a petrol-hybrid version is being readied for India. This new variant is expected to be priced more aggressively than the existing diesel model, making the luxury MPV more accessible to buyers.

The upcoming hybrid Carnival is likely to use a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The combined power output stands at 242 hp and 367 Nm of torque in international markets.
The hybrid system uses a 54 kW electric motor integrated into a full parallel hybrid setup. Power is expected to be sent to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. It will also feature three-level regenerative braking for improved efficiency.
Internationally, the hybrid version delivers fuel efficiency figures of up to 14.5 kmpl, which is expected to be better than the diesel in certain driving conditions.
The hybrid Carnival sold overseas comes with sporty styling elements such as 19-inch gloss black alloy wheels, LED projector headlamps, LED tail lamps and dual sunroofs. India could get a similar fully-loaded trim.
Inside, the MPV is expected to offer powered sliding rear doors, a smart power tailgate, heated steering wheel and integrated sunshades for second and third-row passengers.
The dashboard will likely feature twin 12.3-inch panoramic displays, an 11-inch head-up display, connected car technology and a premium Bose sound system. There is also an in-cabin camera with intercom function for more convenience.
Globally, the hybrid Carnival gets a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. These include autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keeping assist, highway driving assist and a 360-degree surround-view monitor.
If launched with these features, the hybrid Carnival could become one of the most feature-rich MPVs in the Indian market.
The Kia Carnival Hybrid is expected to arrive in India soon, possibly within this year. It could attract buyers looking for a powerful yet fuel-efficient luxury MPV with modern technology.
With more power and better mileage on offer, the upcoming hybrid variant may give the Carnival a stronger position in the premium MPV space.
