Kia Sorento Hybrid spotted in India – 1.6L turbo, AWD Three-row SUV launch expected by 2027, Rs 35 lakh approx Rivals Fortuner, Kodiaq, MG Gloster with hybrid tech
Kia has been spotted testing a heavily camouflaged Sorento Hybrid near Delhi, signalling its India launch is on the horizon. While it is unclear if this is the global Sorento or a version specially developed for India, the test mule confirms that Kia is preparing a premium three-row hybrid SUV for the local market.

The Sorento Hybrid is expected to feature a 1.6-litre turbocharged hybrid petrol engine, delivering around 238 hp in standard hybrid form. A plug-in hybrid variant could offer up to 288 hp. Transmission options are likely to include a six-speed automatic and an eight-speed dual-clutch, with all-wheel-drive available for better traction and off-road capability.
Based on its global size, the Sorento Hybrid could measure close to 4.8 metres in length with a 2.8-metre wheelbase, providing ample space for three rows of seating. The SUV is expected to follow Kia’s Opposites United design language, with a bold, upright stance, squared-off proportions, and vertical headlamps that emphasize its premium look.
The upcoming Sorento Hybrid will compete with Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian. With an estimated price of around Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom), it could appeal to buyers looking for a hybrid alternative to traditional diesel SUVs. Kia aims for an annual production of 50,000 units, targeting both domestic and export markets.
While Kia has not officially confirmed dates, the Sorento Hybrid could launch in late 2026 or early 2027, complementing Kia’s electrified lineup that also includes the Syros EV and Carnival Hybrid. This move reinforces Kia’s strategy of expanding its hybrid and electric offerings in India.
