The long-awaited Kia Syros will finally make its global debut on December 19, 2024. Prices of the SUV likely to be released in January, most probably at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. To be positioned between the Seltos and Sonet, the new Syros will come as a premium alternative to the likes of the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Tata Nexon.
Ahead of the official launch, key details of the new Kia Syros have been leaked on the Internet. The leaked info reveals that the new Syros will ride on bigger wheelbase compared to the Sonet. This further confirms that Kia is focusing on offering spacious cabin, importantly in the second-row.
Syros Dimensions - it will measure 3,995mm in length, 1800mm in width and 1,665mm in height. This model has a wheelbase of 2,550mm. The SUV will offer a boot space of 465-litres, which is the result of the bigger wheelbase.
On the flip side, the Kia Sonet is 3995mm long, 1790mm wide and 1642mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2500mm. It offers a boot space of 385-litres, which is good enough to carry your weekend bags.
The new Kia Syros is 10mm wider and 23mm taller than the Sonet. In fact, the wheelbase is increased by good 50mm to create more space in the second-row. The Syros offers 80-litres more space in the boot compared to its sibling compact SUV.
The new Kia Syros will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV, which offers several segment-leading features. It will come with LEVEL 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) with features like adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking and many more. The SUV will offer front parking sensors, which are missing in the Sonet.
The new Kia Syros features list will include a 360-degree surround view camera, slidable and reclining rear seats with ventilation, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation, Harman-Kardon sourced sound system, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and flush-type door handles. It will be offered with two sunroof options - single-pane in lower variants and panoramic sunroof in higher variants. The SUV will get the segment-largest 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and 12.3-inch digital driver's display. It could also get HUD (Heads-Up Display).
The 2025 Kia Syros will be offered with two engine options - a 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo petrol. While the former is good for 114bhp and 250Nm of torque, the turbo petrol engine produces 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual as standard, a 7-speed DCT with petrol, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with diesel.
