Mahindra is moving closer to launching a new lifestyle pickup truck based on the Scorpio N. Fresh spy images spotted throughout 2025 suggest the project is in advanced stages of development. The pickup is expected to arrive in India sometime in 2026.

Test mules of the Scorpio N-based pickup have been spotted multiple times under heavy camouflage. Earlier versions seen on the road featured a single-cab layout with a long cargo bed. However, the latest spy shots point towards a more practical dual-cab setup, which is better suited for Indian buyers.
This indicates that Mahindra is testing different body styles before locking the final version.
The first strong hint of this pickup came in November 2023, when Mahindra’s design patent images surfaced online. These closely matched the Global Pik Up concept, which was showcased at Mahindra’s Futurescape event in South Africa.
Mahindra had already confirmed that the concept was production-ready. The design shows a more upright and rugged stance compared to the Scorpio N SUV, with tougher styling and a shorter cargo bed combined with a double-cab body.
Internally, the project is believed to be codenamed Z121.
While the pickup shares its roots with the Scorpio N, it won’t be a simple conversion. Earlier test vehicles carried the Scorpio N’s familiar design elements like the six-slot grille, Twin Peaks logo, LED headlamps, and C-shaped DRLs.
Newer prototypes, however, hint at visual changes, suggesting Mahindra is giving the pickup its own identity. Some lighting elements still appear unfinished, indicating a pre-production stage.
The pickup is expected to sit on a new body-on-frame chassis, designed to handle both lifestyle and utility use. Power is likely to come from Mahindra’s second-generation mHawk turbo diesel engine.
Transmission options may include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic, along with a four-wheel-drive system featuring shift-on-the-fly capability.
Mahindra has already hinted that the production model will support Level 2 ADAS, including features like semi-automatic parking. 5G connectivity is also expected.
Off-road-focused features could include four terrain modes – Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut, and Sand. Advanced systems such as Trailer Sway Mitigation may also be offered.
With a dual-cab layout, the Scorpio N-based pickup will rival models like the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross in India. The launch is expected in 2026, around the same time Mahindra is also likely to introduce a mid-cycle update for the Scorpio N SUV.
More details should emerge as testing continues closer to the launch.
