Thar Roxx will borrow suspension setup from Scorpio N To rival Force Gurkha five door upon launch Estimated ex-showroom price to be in the Rs. 14.5 - Rs. 21 lakh bracket
A new teaser image of the Mahindra Thar Roxx disclosing key front fascia details has surfaced online ahead of its launch on Independence Day. Besides significant changes to its exterior, the five-door SUV will debut with a couple of segment firsts and sit below the Scorpio N in Mahindra’s lineup.
Up front, the five-door Thar boasts a redesigned look comprising C-shaped LED DRLs and a six-slat grille. Mahindra has heard Thar buyers’ outcry for stronger headlights and given the SUV a projector pair this time. The front camera has been placed in the nose’s centre but the Twin Peaks is absent. Also seen were independent double wishbone suspension setup for enhanced off-road capability borrowed from the Scorpio N.
The homegrown brand has confirmed sharing of 2-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines from the Scorpio N in a similar state of tune. Power and torque figures of the former and latter mills are in the 160-175 bhp/330-380 Nm and 150-172 bhp/350-370 Nm ranges, respectively. Both the units will be paired to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, whereas, mid to top spec trims will house a 4x4 system. Sources close to us tell us that the electronically locking differential is reserved for the range-topping Thar Roxx. A 1.5-litre diesel is likely to be offered in RWD format.
