Mahindra & Mahindra is issuing a recall for the XUV400 and XUV700 SUVs. The automaker says over 3,500 units of the Mahindra XUV400 produced between February 2023 - June 2023 and over 1 lakh units of the Mahindra XUV700 produced between June 2021 - June 2023 have been recalled.
The 2023 Mahindra XUV700 has been recalled for a suspected potential risk of abrasion causing cuts in the wiring loom routing in the engine bay. This may lead to overheating issues because of excess current. Meanwhile, the 2023 Mahindra XUV400 has an issue with the spring return action effectiveness of the brake potentiometer. In simple terms, the issue in the EV can affect the driver under braking.
Mahindra cars has stated that it will individually contact the owners of the affected vehicles for an inspection and replacement of the faulty part. It will be done free of charge.
This is not the first time the XUV700 has been issued a recall. In November 2022, 12,500 units of the XUV700 and Scorpio N were recalled due to a defective rubber below inside the clutch bell housing of the manual variants of the SUVs. The issue was resolved via a no-cost part replacement.
Prices for the XUV700 range between Rs 14.01 lakh (ex-showroom) - Rs 26.18 lakh (ex-showroom). The XUV400’s prices start from Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom), going up to Rs 19.39 lakh (ex-showroom).
