Two of the most popular Maruti cars, including the Dzire and Baleno, have undergone crash tests under Bharat NCAP. While the latest-gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire has achieved a 5-star crash test rating, the Baleno secured 4 star rating in crash tests done by Bharat NCAP (New Car Safety Assessment Program). For people not in the know, the Dzire compact sedan has also scored 5 stars in Global NCAP testing last year.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire scored an impressive 29.46 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection (AOP). Adding to it, the sub-4 meter sedan secured 41.57 out of 49 points in child occupant protection (COP).
It comes equipped with six airbags, ESC, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchor points, 3-point seatbelt with reminders, reverse parking sensors, etc.
- 14.17 points out of 16 points
- Protection of driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet was rated good
- Chest and tibias protection was found marginal and adequate, respectively.
- Protection of the co-driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and left tibia was found good.
- Chest and right tibia protection was rated adequate.
Side movable deformable barrier test - 15.29 out of 16 points
COP dynamic score - 23.57 out of 24 points
Child restraint system (CRS) installation score - 12 out of 12 points
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has scored 4 star crash test rating by Bharat NCAP. The premium hatchback received 4 star rating in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), and 3 star in Child Occupant Protection (COP).
Adult Occupant Protection - 26.52 out of 32 points
Child Occupant Protection - 34.81 out of 49 points
Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier - 11.54 out of 16 points
Side Movable Deformable Barrier - 14.99 out of 16 points
BNCAP tested both 2 airbags and 6 airbags version of the hatchback. It comes equipped with ABS, ESP with hill hold assist, brake assist, a 360-degree surround view camera, 3-point seat belts for all passengers and ISOFIX seat anchorages.
