Maruti eVitara Crash Tested - Aiming 5-Star NCAP Rating

Maruti is doing the internal crash test on the eVitara SUV. The eVitara is expected to launch in the upcoming months of 2025. The first electric SUV of the automaker is said to offer two battery pack options.

Maruti Suzuki has been planning to introduce four new electric cars in India and the eVitara will be the first of these. The eVitara was showcased earlier in January 2025 at the Auto Expo event. Now, the images of the EV in the crash test have been surfacing on the internet. It seems that the automaker is preparing for its first electric vehicle to launch in the market in the coming months. The test seems to be an internal one by the brand and not by safety rating agencies BNCAP or GNCAP.

Maruti eVitara Crash Test

The electric SUV is likely to be tested on multiple parameters such as a side impact test, frontal crash test, and other tests on the battery pack used to power it. The automaker has been taking its vehicular safety more seriously, which is shown through the Swift model becoming the first vehicle in the company’s history to offer 6 airbags as standard fitment and Dzire became the first vehicle to be awarded 5 Stars in Global NCAP’s crash test.

Now, for the eVitara we expect an excellent crash safety proposition as the EV will not only be sold in India but globally such as in Europe.

Maruti eVitara: Safety Features

This electric SUV will feature safety elements like 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, EBD, and a suite of Level 2 ADAS features like automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure prevention, and more.

Powertrain Spec

The eVitara is said to offer two battery pack options, 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with single-motor FWD and dual-motor AWD versions. The range is claimed up to 500 km with 181 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque as per powertrain options.
