Maruti Fronx Becomes Second Best-Selling Nexa Car

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx crossover is now a year old in India. Launched on April 24, 2023, the SUV has become the second best-selling NEXA model with a total wholesales of 134,735 units in the domestic market till end-March 2024. The company is selling over 11,000 units of the Fronx per month.

The Maruti Fronx is also the fastest passenger vehicle in India to surpass 1 lakh sales in the domestic market. This SUV achieved this milestone within 10 months of its launch. The SUV is positioned against the likes of the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 and the Kia Sonet. 

This crossover also contributes to the significant growth of Maruti Suzuki in the UV segment. In the FY2024, MSIL sold  642,296 units in FY2024 that's a remarkable increase of 75% compared to the FY2023 (366,129 units sold). The Fronx accounts for 21% of Maruti Suzuki's UV sales in its first year of sales. The Baleno is the top-selling NEXA model with 195,607 units sold in FY2024.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is available in 5 trim levels - Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta and Alpha - priced in the range of Rs 7.52 lakh to Rs 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered with two engine options - a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder NA petrol and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder Boosterjet petrol. While the former is good for 89bhp and 113Nm of torque, the turbo petrol engine produces 99bhp and 147Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. 

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx crossover is also available with a factory-fitted CNG kit. The CNG version offers 77.5bhp and 98.5Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer an impressive fuel economy of 28.51 km/kg. The petrol version is claimed to deliver a certified fuel economy of 21.79kmpl.
