Mercedes-Benz and Microsoft are coming together to revolutionise the driving experience with the integration of ChatGPT in Mercedes cars. The AI language model will be integrated into the Voice Assistant in Mercedes-Benz cars, making it more conversational for the car owner. The automaker has said that it will roll out a software update comprising a new ChatGPT feature into its cars.
Drivers can use the 'Hey Mercedes' command to enable the AI language model and perform tasks such as finding routes, adjusting the temperature, making a phone call, etc.
As per Microsoft, ChatGPT would make these speech instructions more natural and will open up additional functions as well. The automaker has mentioned that this new feature will be integrated into its MBUX infotainment systems.
In addition to this, the company clarified that around 9 lakh customers who own a vehicle with the MBUX system will only be able to test the feature as a part of the beta program. This beta testing mode is likely to run for about 3 months and based on the customer's feedback, the functions will further be improved.
Most users have concerns regarding data privacy. Taking this into account, the German car manufacturer has stated that it would maintain ownership of the collected data. The company will retain complete control over the IT process in the background. Besides, the voice command data collected will be stored in the brand's Intelligent Cloud where it will be anonymised, is what is being said.
