JSW MG Motor India recently announced its new premium retail channel, MG Select. The first product to be introduced under this network will be the MG Cyberster sportscar, set to make its world debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025. The Cyberster is MG’s first electric roadster, measuring 4,533mm in length, 1,912mm in width, and 1,328mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,689mm. The carmaker describes it as an "affordable" sportscar, estimated to be priced at around £50,000 (approximately ₹53 lakh) in global markets.
The MG Cyberster features an open-top, two-door design and showcases MG’s new sleek design language. It is equipped with sweptback headlamps, multiple pronounced air intakes, a swooping nose, and a contoured bumper with a split pattern at the front. The car's petal-like 20-inch alloy wheels, scissor doors, and fabric soft-top add to its swanky appearance.
Other standout design elements include prominent rear haunches and side skirts, an aggressive split diffuser, and arrow-shaped taillamps with a rectangular light bar spanning the car’s width.
The interior of the Cyberster has a sporty and futuristic appeal. It features a three-screen digital setup for infotainment and instrument cluster functionalities, which wraps around the driver. The flat-bottom steering wheel, wrapped in leather and equipped with mounted control buttons, enhances the premium feel. An electric parking brake is positioned to the left of the steering wheel.
The center console includes physical buttons for the drive selector, roof mechanism, and HVAC controls, drawing inspiration from the global-spec Lexus LC and Jaguar F-Type. The butterfly doors and folding roof can be operated with three dedicated keys.
The MG Cyberster comes with two battery options. The top-spec model is equipped with a 77kWh battery pack and two electric motors, one on each axle, delivering power to all four wheels. This setup generates a maximum power of 544bhp and 725Nm of torque, enabling the sportscar to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.2 seconds. It offers a maximum range of 580km on a full charge (CLTC cycle).
The entry-level variant features a single rear axle-mounted 308bhp motor paired with a 64kWh battery, providing a CLTC-rated range of 520km. The Cyberster's kerb weight varies by variant, with the single-motor version weighing 1,850kg and the dual-motor AWD version weighing 1,985kg.
