The long-awaited Mahindra Thar Roxx will finally make its global debut on August 15, 2024. It will come as a more practical offering compared to the three-door Thar. The existing model lacks rear doors, low boot space and a proper rear bench, and with Thar Roxx, Mahindra wants to address all these issues.
Ahead of the official launch, Mahindra has released multiple teasers and images of the Thar Roxx. This time around, Mahindra Thar Roxx is fully revealed in a new White finish along with the Black colour option. Not just styling, Mahindra has also released the interior teaser that reveals the key features on offer.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx will be based on the updated version of the brand's 3G platform that underpins the Scorpio N. It is around 40kgs lighter than the previous architecture. The lifestyle SUV comes with a metal body shell with a fixed metal roof.
The Thar Roxx will come with an independent front suspension setup with double wishbones and a multilink rear setup with Watts linkage. It will also get 'Frequency Dependent Damping' technology, which is available in the Scorpio N.

The Thar Roxx will be offered with a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine that offers two states of tunes - 148bhp/350Nm and 170bhp/370Nm. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The Thar Roxx petrol will get the 2.0-litre turbo engine that also offers two states of tunes - 158bhp/330Nm and a 173bhp/380Nm. It will also come with manual and torque convertor automatic gearbox options.
Similar to the Scorpio N, the Thar Roxx will have Mahindra's 4Xplor off-road setup. The system comes with an electronic brake locking differential (E-BLD) and an electronic locking differential (ELD). It will have a traditional lever for 2H, 4H and 4L modes. Moreover, the lifestyle SUV will have multiple terrain modes including Snow, Sand and Mud.
The Thar Roxx approach, ramp-over and departure angle stands at 41.3 degrees, 23.6 degrees and 36.1 degrees, respectively. It has a water wading capacity of 650mm.
The automatic version will get a Crawl Smart Assist feature, which allows customers to set the speed during off-road driving (between 2.5kmph and 30kmph). Once set, the vehicle will automatically drive through the terrain at the set speed without any driver input.
This feature locks the rear inner wheel depending on the steering direction, which in return offers a tighter turning radius. However, this feature operates at speeds under 15kmph and activates only for 15 seconds at a time. Driver needs to disengage the ELD to use this Intelli Turn Assist feature.
