Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car maker, will introduce two all-new SUVs in the Indian market in 2025. The company will showcase the new Suzuki e Vitara electric SUV at the Auto Expo 2025. Adding to it, MSIL will introduce an all-new 7-seater SUV in the second half of 2025.
Maruti Suzuki is preparing an all-new 3-row SUV, which will be based on the Grand Vitara SUV. In fact, the 7-seater Grand Vitara has already been spotted testing on the Indian roads. The new SUV will be launched in the country in the second half of 2025.
This 3-row SUV will enter the 7-seater mid-size SUV category, which is dominated by Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari. It will also challenge the likes of the MG Hector Plus and the Hyundai Alcazar. Moreover, Renault, Nissan, Hyundai and Honda are also developing their respective 7-seater SUVs for India.
The new SUV is based on the Suzuki's Global C platform that underpins the Grand Vitara and global-spec S-Cross crossover. The platform will be modified to accommodate a longer wheelbase SUV. Alongside the longer wheelbase, MSIL engineers will utilize Grand Vitara's boot space to accommodate third-row seat.
The new Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater will be produced at Suzuki's new Kharkhoda manufacturing plant in Haryana, which will be operational in 2025. Toyota will also launch its own version of this SUV, which is rumoured to be called the Hyryder 7-seater. The new SUV will also receive advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).
The new 7-seater Maruti Suzuki SUV is likely to be offered with the same set of engines that powers the Grand Vitara. The engine options likely to include a 1.5L K15C petrol mild-hybrid and 1.5L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid. We believe that Maruti should utilize Toyota's 2.0L strong hybrid engine to power the 7-seater SUV.
The Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV will be the most fuel efficient 3-row SUV in India. Expect a fuel efficiency of over 25kmpl. Moreover, the new SUV will come with all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup, which will make it a more value-for-money and premium offering.
