Nissan to launch its low-cost MPV in Q1, 2026 It will be based on Renault Triber MPV To get unique design and interior 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine with manual and AMT
The Japanese automaker, Nissan had officially announced to launch 3 new utility vehicles in the Indian market by March 2027. The company will launch an all-new entry-level MPV, a new mid-sized 5-seater SUV and an all-new C-segment 7-seater SUV. The new Nissan entry-level MPV is scheduled to be launched in Q1, 2026, between January and March.
Nissan has already released a couple of teasers showcasing the possible design of the new MPV. It will be a sub-4 meter MPV based on the Renault-Nissan’s CMF-A+ platform that underpins the Renault Triber. The teaser reveals that the new Nissan MPV will have a completely different look compared to its Renault sibling, the Triber.
Similar to the Renault Triber, the new Nissan MPV would aim to offer practical and spacious cabin. It will be manufactured at Renault’s Chennai based plant. Nissan will also export the new MPV to select international markets.
The new Nissan MPV will look significant different from the Triber, as it will have all-new body panels. It will carry Nissan’s design language, which we have already seen on the latest Duster and Captur. Going by the teaser, it is visible that the MPV will have a larger C-shaped grille with hexagonal vents that houses the Nissan logo in the centre, and projector headlamps and new LED DRLs at the top.
The rear design is also expected to feature a new styling. It is expected to get a new bumper with silver treatment. The new Nissan MPV will come with a newly designed tail-lights with new internal detailing, functional roof rails and new set of alloys.
The cabin of the new low-cost Nissan MPV will look similar to the Magnite SUV. It will share features such as upholstery, touchscreen infotainment unit, steering wheel, central console area and others with the Magnite SUV. It is also expected to receive a modular third-row seat that can be removed or fixed whenever required.
It is likely to be equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charging, a semi-digital driver’s display or a fully digital unit, second-row seats with slide and recline functions, and a cooled central storage box.
The new Nissan people’s mover will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the Triber and Nissan Magnite. Paired to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT, the naturally-aspirated engine produces 72bhp and 96Nm of torque.
