Volkswagen India has further expanded the Taigun subcompact SUV and Virtus midsize sedan model lineup with new Highline Plus variants. The new Volkswagen Taigun Highline Plus comes with both manual and automatic gearboxes, priced at Rs 14.27 lakh and Rs 15.37 lakh, respectively.
Compared to their Highline counterparts, the new Highline Plus variants are nearly Rs 54,000 and Rs 89,000 more expensive. The Volkswagen Virtus Highline Plus variant is offered with two-pedal and three-pedal transmission options, priced at Rs 13.88 lakh and Rs 14.98 lakh, respectively. These are priced nearly Rs 86,000 and Rs 81,000 higher than the Highline trims.
In terms of features, the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus Highline Plus offer an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, push-button start, rain-sensing wipers, and a follow-me-home function for the headlamps, all over the Highline trim. Features such as wireless charging, electrically foldable ORVMs, automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver seat, reverse parking sensors and camera, 60:40 split rear seats, rear AC vents, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, brake assist, and more are also on offer.
The Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus are available with the 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI turbo petrol and 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI turbo petrol engines. While the former produces 115bhp and 175Nm of torque, the latter delivers 150bhp and 250Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard across the model lineup. The 1.0L and 1.5L TSI petrol engines are also available with a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, respectively.
Both the Taigun and Virtus will receive a major facelift towards the end of 2025 or early 2026. The carmaker is likely to introduce a few noticeable cosmetic changes and feature upgrades, including the ADAS suite. The engine setup (1.0L and 1.5L turbo petrol), however, is likely to be carried forward from the pre-facelift versions.
