Volkswagen Tayron New Variant Launch Tomorrow – Key Details Inside

Volkswagen Tayron's new variant will debut on July 10. It is expected to cost up to Rs 3 lakh less than the R-Line. The SUV will retain the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Volkswagen India is all set to launch a new variant of the Volkswagen Tayron on July 10. The upcoming version is expected to offer the same three-row SUV experience as the Tayron R-Line but at a lower price.

Ahead of the launch, Volkswagen has shared a teaser that reveals a few styling changes while confirming that many of the SUV's key features will remain unchanged.

Slightly Different Exterior Design

The teaser shows that the new Tayron variant will have a simpler design than the R-Line. It gets a new five-spoke alloy wheel design, which is expected to be smaller than the 19-inch wheels available on the R-Line. The front and rear bumpers also appear to have a less sporty look, while the R-Line badges on the exterior and steering wheel have been removed.

Inside, the SUV is expected to feature a different dual-tone seat upholstery, giving the cabin a fresh look.

Most Premium Features Will Stay

Although it is expected to be positioned below the R-Line, the new Tayron variant is likely to retain most of the premium equipment.

Expected features include illuminated front and rear Volkswagen logos with connected LED light bars, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, panoramic sunroof and three rows of seating.

Same Engine Under the Hood

There are no mechanical changes expected for the new variant It will continue with the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 201 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. Power will be sent through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, just like the Tayron R-Line.

Expected Price

The new Tayron variant is expected to be priced between Rs 44 lakh and Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). This would make it around Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh more affordable than the Tayron R-Line, which is currently priced at Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is also expected to be priced below the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, which currently costs Rs 47.11 lakh (ex-showroom).
