MG to Launch 2 New EVs and 1 Plug-in Hybrid in India

MG has confirmed three new electrified models for India. The brand's first plug-in hybrid SUV will debut on July 16. Windsor EV has crossed 75,000 sales in less than two years.

JSW MG Motor India has announced that it will launch two new electric vehicles and one plug-in hybrid SUV in India during the current financial year. The company shared this update after the MG Windsor EV crossed 75,000 sales in less than two years of launch.

MG also said that the Windsor EV recorded more than 19,000 sales during the first half of 2026, making it one of the company's strongest-performing electric models in India.

First Plug-in Hybrid SUV Coming This Month

The first of the three upcoming models will be MG's first plug-in hybrid SUV for India, which is scheduled to make its debut on July 16, 2026.

The SUV is expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 sold in international markets. Unlike a regular strong hybrid, a plug-in hybrid uses a larger battery pack that allows it to travel longer distances in electric mode before the petrol engine starts working.

Globally, the SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh LFP battery pack.

Over 100 km Electric-Only Range

The international-spec model produces a combined 197 bhp and 230 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.7 seconds and offers an electric-only driving range of more than 100 km.

This means many daily trips can be completed using only electric power, while the petrol engine provides extra range for longer journeys.

Another EV Could Also Be on the Way

MG has also confirmed that two more electric vehicles will join its India lineup this financial year.

While the company has not revealed their names, the all-electric version of the Wuling Starlight 560 is one of the expected candidates. It has already been spotted testing in India.

The electric SUV comes with a 56.7 kWh battery pack, produces 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, and offers a claimed driving range of up to 530 km under the CLTC cycle.

More Details Expected Soon

MG is expected to share more information about its future products and technologies during its global MG Tech Day event. The company will showcase new concept cars, its next-generation Hybrid+ powertrain, intelligent driving technologies and its new Solidcore battery technology.
