ID Polo EV gets up to 451km range Design inspired by ID 2all concept GTI version with sporty styling revealed
The upcoming Volkswagen electric hatchback, the Volkswagen ID Polo EV, has been revealed in fresh leaked images ahead of its global debut in May. This is the first clear look at the production-ready version of Volkswagen’s entry-level EV.
The leaked images suggest that the Volkswagen ID Polo EV closely follows the design of the Volkswagen ID 2all concept. It gets a clean and modern EV-style front with slim headlights and a sealed-off grille. There are a few small changes compared to the concept, including tweaks to the front bumper and detailing between the headlights.
The ORVMs now have a more conventional design, while the rear door handles continue to be placed on the C-pillar, giving it a sporty and clean side profile.

Along with the standard model, the GTI version has also surfaced in leaked images. This variant looks more aggressive with a redesigned front bumper and a honeycomb mesh grille. It also features vertical DRLs and a signature red stripe under the Volkswagen logo, along with GTI badging that highlights its performance-focused identity.
In terms of size, the Volkswagen ID Polo EV is larger than the older Volkswagen Polo that was sold in India.
It measures 4,053mm in length, 1,816mm in width and 1,530mm in height, along with a 2,600mm wheelbase. This makes it a bigger and more spacious hatchback, closer to global standards.
Volkswagen had already revealed the interior earlier, and it combines modern technology with practical usability. The cabin gets a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a large 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
It also offers customisable display themes, including a retro mode inspired by older Volkswagen models. Interestingly, the company has brought back physical buttons for key controls, which is not very common in modern EVs. There is also a rotary dial on the centre console for volume and media functions, along with physical controls on the steering wheel.
The Volkswagen ID Polo EV will be based on Volkswagen’s new MEB+ platform. It will come with two battery options, including 38kWh and 56kWh, with a claimed driving range of up to 451km.
The model will feature a front-wheel-drive setup and support DC fast charging of up to 125kW. The sportier GTI version is expected to produce around 226hp, offering a more engaging driving experience.

The Volkswagen ID Polo EV will make its global debut in May and is an important part of Volkswagen’s future EV plans.
It keeps the popular Polo name while adding modern electric technology, making it a smart and stylish choice for buyers planning to switch to an EV.
