No Petrol Diesel Shortage in India - IOCL, BPCL Issue Statement

No fuel shortage in India, confirm oil companies Panic buying causes queues at petrol pumps Govt urges public to stay calm and ignore rumours

Amid viral rumours and panic buying in several cities, the government and major oil companies have clarified that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel in India. Public sector fuel retailers have urged citizens to stay calm and avoid unnecessary purchases.

IOCL, BPCL Dismiss Shortage Rumours

State-run companies like Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) have clearly stated that reports of fuel shortage are completely unfounded.

According to the companies, India has adequate reserves of crude oil and refined fuels such as petrol, diesel, and aviation turbine fuel. The supply chain across the country is functioning normally, ensuring fuel availability at all outlets.

Fuel Available Across All Pumps

Indian Oil Corporation reassured citizens that fuel is available at its petrol pumps across the country.

The company said it is continuously working to meet demand and ensure smooth supply. It also requested people to avoid panic buying and rely only on official updates.

Panic Buying Leads To Long Queues

Despite official clarification, long queues were reported at petrol pumps in cities like Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.

In parts of Gujarat, including Rajkot and Surat, some fuel stations briefly ran out of stock. Officials clarified that this happened due to sudden high demand caused by panic buying, not because of any actual shortage.

West Asia Tensions Behind Concerns

The rumours are believed to be linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, involving countries like United States, Israel, and Iran.

There have also been concerns about possible disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil supply route. However, officials confirmed that these developments have not impacted India’s fuel supply.

Government Assures No Need To Worry

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi dismissed concerns and confirmed that petrol, diesel, and PNG are fully available across India.

He also warned that panic buying can create unnecessary pressure on supply chains and lead to temporary disruptions at the local level.

Citizens Asked To Ignore Rumours

The government and oil companies have urged people to ignore unverified social media posts and avoid panic-driven decisions.

India’s fuel supply remains stable, and there is no need for concern. Citizens are advised to purchase fuel as usual and not contribute to artificial shortages.
