Maruti Suzuki preparing new SUVs and MPVs for India Brezza, Baleno facelifts and 7-seater Grand Vitara expected Company focusing on petrol, hybrid, CNG, EV, and flex-fuel models
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for a major product expansion in India as it looks to regain lost market share. Despite remaining the country’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, the company witnessed its third straight year of market share decline in FY2026 due to rising competition and slowing demand in the small car segment.
Even with the decline, Maruti Suzuki recorded a 5.7 percent growth in sales volume, showing that demand for its products remains strong.
To strengthen its position further, the company is planning to expand its lineup to 28 models by 2030-31 while focusing on multiple powertrain options including petrol, hybrid, CNG, electric, and flex-fuel technologies.

Among the major launches expected in 2026 are the updated Maruti Brezza and Baleno facelifts. Both models are likely to receive subtle design changes, feature upgrades, and technology improvements.
Reports suggest the two cars could also get the 100bhp 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine currently seen in the Fronx. Maruti may additionally introduce an underbody-mounted CNG tank setup, improving boot space and practicality for buyers.
The updated models are expected to continue with their current petrol and CNG engine options alongside these possible additions.
Maruti Suzuki is also reportedly developing a new subcompact MPV, internally codenamed YDB. The model is expected to measure around 3,395 mm in length and could be sold through Nexa dealerships.
The upcoming MPV is likely to be inspired by the Suzuki Spacia, a kei car sold in Japan. Similar to the Japanese model, the India-bound MPV could feature a tall-boy design with a boxy shape focused on maximizing cabin space and practicality.
This model is expected to target buyers looking for an affordable and compact family vehicle.
Maruti Suzuki is also preparing a 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara, which has already been spotted testing in India. The SUV is expected to launch around the festive season or by late 2026.
Like the standard Grand Vitara, the three-row version is likely to offer 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol and strong-hybrid powertrains. While most design elements are expected to remain similar, the SUV will feature a longer body and an additional row of seats.
The model will help Maruti expand its presence in the fast-growing three-row SUV segment.
Maruti Suzuki is expected to continue focusing heavily on multiple fuel technologies in the coming years. Along with petrol and CNG vehicles, the company is also preparing more hybrid and electric products for India.
