A new mid-size SUV, rivalling Jeep Compass, is under development by Renault. It was witnessed through a few testing shots in Argentina. This product will be positioned higher than the present Renault Duster. It will take the brand into direct competition with Jeep Compass. The new mid-sized SUV is reportedly to go into production as early as 2025.
It is being manufactured in Brazil as an important milestone of the strategic development of Renault SUV portfolio across Latin America. This anti-Compass SUV is built on a shared platform with Renault Kardian compact SUV. However, it will have all-new body panels including doors and will carry its own identity to fight in the mid-sized SUV category.
The new SUV will have a distinct design, with both front and rear styles that differentiate it from other Renault models. Its daytime running lights will probably be positioned above the main headlights. It will also include some characteristic of the Renault Kardian. This is probably going to attract customers who like modern SUVs.
Inside, the Compass-rival SUV will share many features with the European Renault Duster, including a digital instrument panel. The interior will focus on offering a tech-driven experience, providing advanced features that are also seen in the Kardian. Expect a modern and comfortable cabin designed to attract buyers in the competitive medium SUV segment.
The new SUV will most likely be powered by the 1.3-litre turbo engine, already seen on current Duster and Oroch. There's even some news that a hybrid model could be in store for an unveiling. It is early to comment whether the new hybrid model will launch or not.
There are also plans for a coupe version of the new Renault mid-sized SUV, which could be released either simultaneously or shortly after the standard model. This will help provide customers with more choice in the medium SUV segment and, consequently, increase Renault's market share in the expanding SUV sector.
The Renault's Compass rival SUV, built in Brazil, will be launched into a highly competitive medium SUV segment. It promises to appeal to SUV buyers in Latin America and other markets with its distinct design, modern features, and potential hybrid powertrain. It will be launched in 2025, and the model might take a big place in the future lineup of Renault.
Interested buyers can now book the Volkswagen Golf GTI online or at authorised VW dealerships - launch in the end of May with deliveries from June 2025.
