The mid-sized SUV segment is currently dominated by Hyundai Creta, which accounts for 30% total sales in the category. Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the Victoris to challenge its dominance. Two brand new mid-sized SUVs, the Renault Duster and the Tata Sierra, are set to launch in the Q1, 2026, which will directly rival the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Victoris.
Renault and Tata Motors will do everything to make these two SUVs hugely successful in the market. The big update is that the Tata Sierra and Renault Duster will come with triple screen dashboard, which we have already seen on the Mahindra XEV 9e. Adding to it, the upcoming Mahindra XUV700 facelift will also receive three screens.
The triple screen dashboard comprising a centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment unit, a digital driver’s display and a co-occupant passenger’s entertainment screen. Tata Motors had showcased the Sierra lifestyle with three screens at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. Moreover, the spy images also confirmed the same.

While the global-spec Duster has two screens (infotainment unit and driver’s display), the India-spec Renault Duster is likely to get triple screen dash. In fact, the SUV has been snapped showing its dashboard which confirms the availability of third screen.

The third-gen Duster is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2026, most probably in January. Based on the CMF-B modular platform, the new SUV will be manufactured at Renault’s Chennai based production plant. In terms of features, the SUV will come with powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone charging and others.
It will be powered by a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with manual and dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The entry-level variants could get a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol or a 1.5L NA petrol. Renault is also working on a hybrid version of this powertrain, which is expected to arrive in the end of 2026 or early 2027.

Tata Motors will market the new Sierra as a lifestyle premium SUV in the market. It will measure around 4.3-4.4 meters in length, which makes it a direct rival to the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The SUV will offer massive road presence and appears bigger than its rivals. The Sierra ICE will launch in the first quarter of 2026.
It will mark the debut of Tata’s new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Moreover, the SUV will also get a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine that is claimed to produce 170hp and 280Nm of torque. This engine will also power the Harrier and Safari. The diesel version will get the 2.0L, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel engine.
