Skoda Auto Volkswagen India is gearing up to re-introduce the popular Octavia RS in India by 2023. This will be the brand’s first-ever plug-in hybrid offering for the Indian market and will be called the Octavia RS iV. The sporty sedan will be based on the current-generation Octavia and will have a total power output of 245 bhp from its plug-in hybrid powertrain. According to media reports, the car is expected to debut by mid-2023 and will be sold via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route limited to only 2500 units.
Skoda Octavia RS iV Exterior Upgrades:
Internationally, the Czech marque introduced the Octavia RS iV back in 2020, on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of its performance brand RS. Compared to the regular sedan, the RS iV gets a slew of cosmetic upgrades. These include a sharper and sleeker front fascia with blacked-out front grille, an aggressive bumper and LED headlamps with inverted L integrated DRLs. Towards the side, there are sporty diamond-cut alloy wheels and flared wheel arches. The rear profile of the car is enhanced by a subtle boot spoiler finished in black and a blacked-out skid plate with a dual muffler design.
Skoda Octavia RS iV Interior Details:
Moving to the interior, the sporty treatment continues with the presence of a flat bottom steering wheel, full digital instrument cluster with red theme, sporty red inserts throughout and an all-new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The use of soft touch materials within the cabin exudes a sense of premiumness.
Skoda Octavia RS iV Powertrain:
In terms of the powertrain, it is propelled by a 1.4 litre TSI motor, churning out 150bhp paired with a 116bhp electric motor. The combined power output is rated at 245bhp while the torque stands at 400Nm. The four-wheeler will be available in only one variant matted to a 7-speed DCT transmission.
Talking about the electric motor. It is powered by a 13 kWh battery pack mounted on the floor, capable of doing 60 kilometres in pure EV mode. The 0 to 100 kmph sprint can be achieved in 7.3 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 225 kmph.
Skoda Ocvtavia RS iV Price:
The Skoda Octavia RS iV is expected to be priced around Rs. 41 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Indian market, making it the most expensive RS vehicle of all time.
