Maruti Suzuki's YMC electric MPV is expected to offer three-row seating. The new EV could deliver a claimed range of more than 500km. YMC will expand Maruti's electric lineup beyond the e Vitara.
Maruti Suzuki is preparing a new electric MPV that could become one of its most important launches in the coming years. Internally known as YMC, the upcoming model is expected to bring three-row seating and a long driving range, giving Maruti a stronger presence in the family EV space.
The new electric MPV is part of Maruti Suzuki’s wider product plan, which includes several new models and powertrain updates across petrol, CNG and electric vehicles.
New Maruti EV to Get 3-Row Seating
The YMC is expected to be positioned as a three-row family MPV. Test vehicles have already indicated a tall and upright body with a relatively long wheelbase.
The overall length is expected to remain close to 4.5 metres, making it considerably more practical for families while still keeping its dimensions manageable for Indian roads.
The three-row layout should be one of the main selling points of the new EV. Maruti is likely to focus on cabin space and easy access to the rear seats, making the YMC suitable for buyers looking for a family-friendly electric vehicle.

Over 500km Range Expected
The YMC could also offer a claimed driving range of more than 500km on a single charge. While Maruti has not announced the final battery specifications, the model is expected to use an electric architecture related to the e Vitara.
A long claimed range would make the YMC more suitable for both daily city use and longer highway journeys. Final battery capacity, charging times and power output are expected to be revealed closer to its launch.
Maruti’s Electric Lineup to Expand
The upcoming MPV will play an important role in Maruti Suzuki’s plans to expand beyond the e Vitara. The company has been relatively late to India's EV market compared with several rivals, making the YMC an important addition to its future lineup.
Unlike the e Vitara, which is positioned as an SUV, the YMC will focus on space and practicality. Its three-row configuration could help Maruti reach families who want an electric vehicle but need more seating capacity.
More New Maruti Models Coming
The YMC is not the only major product being prepared by Maruti Suzuki. The company is also working on updates to popular models such as the Baleno and Fronx.
The Baleno facelift is expected to bring the Swift's 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine along with a CNG option. The CNG version could also be offered with an AMT, while ADAS and ventilated front seats are expected to be added.
The Fronx is also likely to receive a facelift next year, with styling changes and additional technology expected as part of the update.
YMC Could Be a Key Maruti EV
With three-row seating, a potential 500km-plus range and a practical MPV body style, the YMC could fill an important gap in Maruti Suzuki's future electric lineup.
