Maruti Suzuki recently started exporting the made-in-India Fronx crossover in Japan. This is the second model from the brand to be shipped to Japan, after Baleno. The first batch with 1600 units was shipped off from Gujarat's Pipavav port. Based on the new details that emerged online, the Fronx sold in Japan now gets Suzuki's AllGrip Select All-Wheel-Drive tech and ADAS features. The Indian-spec Fronx missed out on these features.
Under the hood, the Fronx AWD houses a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol unit. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It also gets a different suspension setup. However, this AWD system offered in the Fronx is not a full-fledged All-Wheel-Drive system like AllGrip Pro. It has four off-road modes, namely Auto, Sport, Snow, and Lock. In the Sport and Snow modes, the power is transmitted to the rear axle.
Apart from the AWD, the Japan-spec Fronx gets an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite. This kit comprises a variety of features such as Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic Cruise Control, and Automatic Emergency Braking. Adding to it, the Japanese-spec Fronx gets Front Parking Sensors, Heated Seats, An Electronic Parking Brake with Hill Hold, and more. The Indian model is missing out on this safety suite.
Bookings for the Suzuki Fronx started earlier this month and the brand has collected over 700 bookings till now. It is expected to go on sale on October 16. As for the delivery, it is likely to begin in late October.
