Tata Motors has crossed a big milestone in India’s electric vehicle journey. The company has sold more than 2.5 lakh electric cars under the TATA.ev brand. This makes Tata Motors the clear leader in India’s electric passenger vehicle market.

Tata Motors entered the EV space with the launch of the Nexon.ev in 2020. It became India’s first popular electric SUV. Over time, the Nexon.ev also became the first electric car in the country to cross 1 lakh sales. This model played a key role in building trust in electric cars.
Today, Tata Motors holds around 66 percent share of India’s electric passenger vehicle market. This means nearly two out of three EVs sold in the country are from Tata. More buyers are now using EVs as their main cars for daily travel and long drives.

TATA.ev offers the largest range of electric cars in India. The line-up includes the Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev. Tata also offers the XPRES-T EV for fleet customers. With options across different budgets and body styles, Tata has made EVs easier to choose for many buyers.
Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said this milestone shows that electric cars are becoming part of everyday life in India. He added that Tata’s focus has always been on building a full EV system, including cars, charging, service support and local manufacturing, along with strong customer trust.

TATA.ev has built a wide charging network to support EV users. The company has access to over 2 lakh charging points through home chargers, community chargers and public charging partners. There are more than 20,000 public chargers available, along with 100 fast-charging hubs on major highways that offer quick charging speeds.
TATA.ev has one of the largest EV service networks in the country. There are around 1,500 service bays dedicated to electric cars and over 5,000 trained EV technicians. Tata has also focused on making key EV parts in India, which means more than 50 percent of each TATA.ev car is now locally made.
Tata Motors is planning several new electric cars in the coming years. In 2026, the company will launch the Sierra.ev and a new version of the Punch.ev. By the end of 2026, the Avinya range of premium electric cars will arrive. By 2030, Tata plans to introduce more new EV models and updates.
In the future, TATA.ev plans to grow its charging network further. The company aims to reach 4 lakh charging points by 2027 and expand this to 10 lakh charging points by 2030. It will also continue to improve EV service, battery repair and reuse of old batteries for energy storage.
