Tata Motors has recently launched the new Sierra lifestyle SUV at an introductory price tag of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV is available in 7 trim levels, namely Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+. Prices of the rest of the variants will be revealed in coming days.
Bookings for the new Tata Sierra will officially commence from December 15, 2025; however, Tata dealers have already started taking pre-orders. Deliveries for the new Sierra will commence from January 15, 2026. The SUV is available with 3 engine options, including a 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel. The NA petrol is paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCA, while the turbo version is only available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel version is available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic unit.

We recently got the chance to have a closer look at the new Tata Sierra. My initial impressions about this SUV is positive, but there are some negatives which Tata should address before delivering this car to customers.
- Great design
- Segments longest wheelbase, widest and tallest (Segment largest boot space of 622-litres)
- No panel gaps on outside, LED lighting from base variant only
- Safety on priority (6 airbags, ABS, ESP (21 features), Traction control, ISOFIX as standard. Top two variants get LEVEL 2 ADAS with up to 22 safety features
- Most comfortable seats in the category (excellent bolstering, thigh and back support)
- Second-row seats with maximum legroom, shoulder space, and thigh support. In fact, the only car in the segment that offers comfortable space for 3 adults.
- No dearth of comfort and convenience features
- Turbo petrol and diesel version with automatic and manual option

- too many touch panels (no physical buttons for AC, brake light or other functions).
- Triple screen setup looks good, but touchscreen feels laggy
- The lower variant misses out on touchscreen infotainment and even speakers, at 11.49 lakh (introductory) these features could have been added.
- Touch panel quality or usability for ORVM adjustment is not up to the mark
- Sierra is the heaviest in the category, and 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 106hp and 145Nm will feel slow and sluggish (Poor power to weight ratio)
