Sierra ICE AWD launch in early 2027 Sierra EV arriving in Q2, 2026
The newly launched Tata Sierra has been receiving an overwhelming response from car buyers. In fact, the SUV already commands a waiting period of around 6-7 months, and the production has been increased to meet the rising demand. The sales numbers are expected to further grow, as Tata Motors plans to add two more exciting versions to the Sierra line-up. This year, the company will launch the electric derivative of the Sierra nameplate. Moreover, Tata has confirmed that all-wheel drive versions of both ICE and EV variants are also under development.
Tata Motors has confirmed that the all-wheel-drive version of the ICE-powered Sierra will be launched in early 2027. The Sierra is based on the new ARGOS (All-terrain Ready, Omni-Energy and Geometry Scalable Architecture), which is a future ready platform. This platform can support different body styles and vehicle lengths, as well as multiple engine options including petrol, diesel, CNG and hybrid.
The Sierra AWD will be the first Tata’s ICE 4x4 offering since the HEXA discontinued in 2020. Currently, the Sierra EV is offered with an AWD setup, featuring a dual-motor AWD system. But, the Sierra will be the first ICE-powered model to get AWD setup from Tata’s line-up in India. It is expected that the AWD setup will be offered with the turbo petrol derivative, which gets a 160hp, 1.5L turbo engine paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Scheduled to be launched in the second quarter of 2026, the new Tata Sierra EV will take on the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. It will be based on the Acti.ev platform that also underpins the Curvv EV.

The new electric SUV is expected to be offered with two battery choices with front-axle-mounted electric motor as standard. However, the top-spec model will have a dual-motor AWD setup. The lower-spec models are likely to get a 55kWh battery from Curvv.ev, while the higher-spec variants will get a 65kWh battery from the Harrier.ev.
