Tata Motors will launch the much-awaited Sierra lifestyle SUV in October-November 2025. However, only the electric version will launch first this year. The ICE powered model is reportedly to be launched in the first quarter of 2026. Our sources reveal that the Tata Sierra ICE could be launched in the month of January 2026.
The Tata Sierra is reportedly to be offered with 3 engine choices, including a new 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5L turbo petrol. The lower-spec variants will receive the 1.5L NA petrol engine, which will allow Tata Motors to price the new SUV aggressively in the market. The NA version could be offered with manual and automatic gearbox choices.

The turbo petrol engine is claimed to offer 170bhp and 280Nm of torque; however, the final model could offer different states of power. This engine is reportedly to first debut in Harrier and Safari petrol, which are likely to be launched in November 2025. A 7-speed DCT could be offered with this turbo petrol engine.
The diesel version will be powered by a 2.0L turbo unit that also powers the Harrier and Safari. Tata Motors has acquired the license to tweak this engine, and a differently tuned version of this diesel engine could power the Sierra. Tata Motors could also use the 1.5L turbo diesel engine in the lower-spec variants of the Sierra.
The new Sierra ICE will measure around 4.3-4.4 meters in length, making it a direct rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the newly launched Maruti Victoris. The new SUV will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV. It will have a boxy design, which makes the new Sierra look bigger than the competition and offers massive road presence. It comes with a flat nose, rugged bumper, boxy silhouette and relatively flat rear profile.
The new Tata Sierra will be the first Tata model to feature a triple screen dashboard that adorns a central infotainment unit, a digital instrument console and a co-occupant’s entertainment screen. In terms of features, the Sierra ICE will have an auto-dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, Heads-Up Display (HUD), JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos, ventilated and powered front seats. For safety and security, the SUV will come with multiple airbags, LEVEL 2 ADAS, ESP, TPMS, hill launch and descent control, traction control and others.
